The Sphynx - A Cat, Minus the Hair

by Vanilla

The Sphynx is a breed of hairless cat. They appeared in the world at different times. Mexican hairless cats date back to the pre-Columbian era. In 1938, French professor E. Letard described the mutant allele h in hairless kittens produced by a pair of Siamese cats. In 1966 in Ontario, Canada, Ms. Micalwaith’s female cat Elisabeth gave birth to a hairless male named Prune. Prune and Elisabeth then produced hairless kittens. The spontaneous mutation responsible for this trait is caused by the recessive allele hr. Also in Ontario and at the same time, Ms. Smith discovered Bambi, a black and white hairless male. Pinkie and Squeakie, two hairless females, were adopted by Hugo Hernandez in the Netherlands. In the 1980s, similar cases were reported in Great Britain.
As interest in these cats declined in the United States, their popularity grew in Europe, especially in France by 1983, as well in the Netherlands.

It is true that it is impossible to remain indifferent to these cats, adored by some and detested by others.

Seeing the success of these cats in shows and the curiosity they generated, American breeders began importing Sphynxes from Europe. The Sphynx breed of cat is quite rare nowadays.
The Sphynx is lively, mischievous, playful, and independant. Friendly toward other cats and toward dogs, Sphynxes are never aggressive. Very affectionate and even possessive, they adore being doted on.
Apartment life is perfect for them, since they are sensitive to cold, heat, and humidity. In winter, they should be fed a high-calorie diet in order to keep their body temperature slightly above normal. Although they tan, they must be kept out of direct sunlight, which can lead to sunburn.
Unlike other feline breeds, Sphynxes sweat through the skin and should thus be cleaned periodically, as they produce a great deal of wax
Female Sphynxes have no more than two heats per year. The breed has a high rate of neonatal mortality. Sphynx kittens are born with very wrinkled skin and hair along the spine that disappears with age.

Interview with my mom!

Gooood afternoon my muffins! This is Vee speaking, and I'm here with my mom!

For a mid-term exam, we had to interview someone successful. And I thought, why not my mom!
Because, she's the most successful person I know. Also because I'm an introvert and I know nobody else.

Anyways, let's get right to it!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is my mom, Elisa Ratnawardani. She's the best person I have in my life and today, I'd like to
interview her for my mid-terms exam!
Following will be a list of questions as well as answers from my mom! My mom's words will be written in purple :)

1. What is your job and what do you do there?
"I'm a banker in a syariah bank and my responsibility is to grow the bank's assets by giving loans to corporate clients. The corporate clients means the big companies that have either turn over or own assets of beyond one trillion rupiah. And the size of the loan is above 50 billion rupiah."

2. Why did you choose to have that job?
"Because my education background is accounting and finance, and I like doing the analysis of financial statements of big companies. Those are the skills required to apply as a banker, especially in corporate banking."

3. How long have you had that job?
"I have worked as a banker for over 20 years in 4 different banks."

3.5. Can you mention the places you've worked at?
"Bank Finconesia, DBS Bank, HSBC, and CIMB Niaga. In the last two institutions, I engaged in the corporate syariah financing."

4. What are the challenges of your job?
"The most challenging part of my job is to make my clients understand the syariah concept and to make them believe that the syariah financing is better than the conventional financing. Another challenge is that not all my clients are Muslim, while the syariah finance is a universal product that can be used by everyone, even if they're not Muslim."

5. Do you already feel successful at your job?
"Yes, I feel successful because I'm leading a team in CIMB syariah. We have a solid and good teamwork in managing syariah corporate business. Being a senior vice president in CIMB Niaga means that I am part of the management team of the bank."

6. Are you happy with your job?
"Yes, I am. Especially because my job aligns with my belief and the location of my office is close to my house so I can share my time between my career and my family. I consider CIMB Niaga as one of the best places to work.  Apart from my work life balance, It has a friendly environment and a good remuneration too."

7.  What would you say to encourage people?

"First, when you work in a bank, you need to keep your integrity at the top. Integrity is the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles. Secondly, you need to be a fast learner and to be able to work as a team. Last but not least, you need to be discipline, organized, a problem solver, work smartly, and have good communication skill."

So yeah, that was my interview with my mom!
I hope you got something useful from it, have a great day, bye!

Me doing a practical test.

I have to post a video for my class so here's a video of me failing the BI test.

We were supposed to read Pancasila. I am a very shy and anxious person so speaking in front of a camera is very very frightening. Feels like walking right into a volcano, *shiver*

Muffin

Log Date 8/19/16

Hellurr my muffins!
Okay, so there's this family of stray cats that live outside my house.
There's a white and brown tabby who's the dad cat, a pastel calico who's the mother, and then there's a white pointed black kitten. Now, the kitten is very shy and she does not like hoomans. So whenever I try to take a picture of her she runs away. Here's a pic of her that I took last month.

Okay, so, today before I left for school, she was sleeping in front of my door. So I decided to take a picture of her. This is her today.
(She woke up before I took the picture)
So she has been sleeping in front of my house a lot for the past week and every time I see her I take a picture. Today, She was being cute again and sleeping so I took a picture. And I realized she wasn't running away when I got closer. So I got closer. And eventually, she let me pet her! She was still a bit scared and she was shivering but at least she trusted me a little bit.
So yeah. I decided to name her muffin. Because she reminded me of a burnt muffin.
She is just the cutest kitten and I'm thinking of bringing her in.
Let's hope she still trusts me when I get home from school today!

Cya!

DRAWING IS FUN

Log Date 8/12/16

WOAAH LOOK AT WHAT VEE DID!!!
Yeah, this'll be an art blog. I freaking love drawing.
So, here's Melody, my character. She's kind of a cat-deer hybrid of some sorts. I'm thinking of selling my art but I don't think it'll go far.
I guess this is it for today,

Cya!
